Caracas.- The president of the United Federation of Workers of Oil, Gas, Similar Products and Derivatives (FUTPV), Wills Rangel, said during a morning interview broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión network, that the signing of the collective bargaining agreement 2015-2017 is expected on Thursday, January 7, 2016. It will benefit more than 83,000 oil workers.

Mr. Rangel said that he presented three proposals to President Nicolás Maduro. He also said that labor clauses were discussed during working group meetings.

The new bargaining agreement focuses on bringing benefits to the families of workers with the approval of the social wage. Mr. Rangel cited as an example the provision of uniforms and school supplies for the children of those in the workforce.

Given the situation at the national assembly, Wills Rangel said that the working class will continue with their struggle in defense of the gains achieved during the Bolivarian Revolution. He made special mention of the Organic Labor Law for Work and Workers (LOTTT) and state enterprises. 'That the state protects the people is not important for the right because it would prefer for the companies to take ownership of productivity and give the leftovers to the people. Also, they will keep trying to lay their hands on the oil industry', said Mr. Rangel.

The president of FUTPV called on oil workers to stand firm and join the struggle of the Workers President Nicolás Maduro, and continue with the permanent assemblies.

In a global context of low oil prices, the Bolivarian Government honors its commitments with the oil workers, safeguarding the welfare and employment stability of those who have the task of taking forward the most important industry of the nation.
