Once Again our Employees Came to the Rescue

Once again, our employees came to the rescue.

ONE MORNING IN OCTOBER a Leader crew was heading east of Grande Prairie to a job site. Leader's coiled tubing unit was in the lead, followed by the supervisor's pickup and the N2 unit. Suddenly, a huge fireball lit up the night in front of the group.

As the supervisor's pickup neared the fire, Mike McClure and Tim Delaney saw a dump truck in the ditch and a super B lumber truck engulfed in flames. The dump truck was on its side and the Super B had driven through the ditch into a farmer's field. Tim grabbed a fire extinguisher as Mike ran toward the scene. As they approached the dump truck, the flames spread around it. They could hear the driver calling for help. Mike climbed onto the truck and removed the driver with the aid of another witness. Mike turned the stunned driver over to Barry MacDonald and then followed Tim to the Super B, which was now completely engulfed in flames.
Tim arrived first but could not approach the cab, as the flames were too powerful. Tim and Mike noticed a person staggering around without a jacket and with only one shoe. They ran to him and asked if he was the driver of the truck. The man was in shock and did not know what had happened. Mike and Tim sat the man down and discovered that he was the truck driver. He had been thrown from the truck upon impact with the dump truck. Mike, Tim and Barry, along with Jeff Brewer and Darren MacDonald cared for the men while waiting for emergency crews to arrive. When emergency personnel arrived, the men were transferred to their care and our crew continued on their way.
