Matthew Graham (42), of Derrygonnelly Road, The Graan, Enniskillen was fined £750, plus £15 costs at Enniskillen Magistrates' Court today for failing to notify the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA), within seven days, that 15 animals were lost or stolen from his herd.

Mr Graham pleaded guilty to the offence, which was discovered as a result of a Veterinary Service Enforcement Branch investigation into a Tuberculosis test carried out on Mr Graham's herd in November 2015.

  1. Mr Graham was convicted of 1 charge concerning 15 animals in which he failed to send written notification to the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs within 7 days of becoming aware that these animals were lost or stolen, together with written details of what had occurred, contrary to Regulation 7A(1) of the Cattle Identification (Notification of Births, Deaths and Movements) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999.
  2. Cattle movements notified to the Department are recorded on to the APHIS database. The provision, within statutory limits or upon request, of complete and timely information concerning cattle in the herd, to the Department is fundamental to the credibility and integrity of the Department's Animal and Public Health Information System (APHIS).
  3. All media enquiries to DAERA Press Office, Tel: 028 9052 4619. Out of office hours please contact the Duty Press Officer via pager number 07623 974 383 and your call will be returned.
