The Associated Industries of Massachusetts International Business Council (AIM-IBC) has announced that nominations are open for the annual AIM Global Trade Awards. The Trade Awards recognize Massachusetts firms, institutions and public agencies of all sizes that have demonstrated excellence in international trade, and include a category for globally-owned companies that have positively impacted the Massachusetts economy.

"AIM's past Trade Award winners have proven that there is no set type of company that succeeds in international business," said Richard Lord, president and CEO of AIM. "Companies of all shapes and sizes in the Commonwealth are looking to international markets now more than ever, as they see the opportunity to both build partners and grow their business significantly."

The deadline for nominations is Friday, February 21. Entry forms are available online at www.aimnet.org/international.

Winning entries should demonstrate one or more of the following:

  • Increasing or retaining jobs in Massachusetts by entering international markets
  • Demonstrating new or creative solutions to import/export challenges
  • Producing or adapting a product line or service for a foreign market
  • Establishing alliances or partnerships to increase international business
  • Investing in infrastructure or manufacturing in Massachusetts to enhance trade

2014 award winners will be honored at AIM's 99th Annual Meeting on May 9, 2014 at the Waltham Westin Hotel. Winners receive an AIM-produced short video presenting their international successes and priorities, which is shown at the Annual Meeting.

The Global Trade Awards have recognized over 70 Massachusetts companies, institutions and individuals since 1996. In 2013, winners EMD Millipore, Kinefac and LENOX spanned the life sciences and manufacturing industries. Past award winners include Philips, Hasbro, Rocheleau Tool & Die, Dassault Systemes and Acushnet/Titleist/Footjoy, as well as nonprofit organizations Northeastern University International Co-op and the Massachusetts Export Center.
