ROSSLYN Va.-Since 2014 the linear florescent lamp index has been on a downward trend and that trend continues in 3Q 2016. The index for T8 lamps which account for 63.0 percent of the consumer lamp market decreased on a year-over-year basis by 27.3 percent in 3Q 2016 compared to 3Q 2015. T5 and T8 shipments also continued to decline decreasing by 27.7 and 27.3 percent respectively on a year-over-year basis.

NEMA/BIS has added T-LED shipments to the market penetration graph to begin tracking their impact on the market. When more historical data is available T-LED shipments will be added to the index. In 3Q 2016 T-LEDs accounted for 12.8 percent of the florescent lamp shipments. T5 lamps claim a 9.4 percent share of the 3Q 2016 market and T12 lamps 14.8 percent.
