RUSS VERING has been elected to the National Pork Producers Council (NPPC). NPPC represents 42 affiliated state associations, working to ensure that the U.S. pork industry remains a consistent and responsible supplier of high-quality pork to domestic and international markets. NPPC is governed by a 15-member Board of Directors.

Russ is the owner of Central Plains Milling located in Howells and Columbus and is involved with contract wean-to-finish sites in several surrounding counties in eastern Nebraska. He also serves as campaign co-chair for Nexus, which is a Northeast Community College campaign to raise funds for the Agriculture & Water Center of Excellence.

Russ is very active in the Nebraska Pork Producers Association. He was elected to the Nebraska Pork Producers Board of Directors in 2008 served as President in 2016 and 2017. During his years on the NPPA Board, Russ represented Nebraska's pork producers at numerous local, state and national meetings and traveled abroad on several trade missions.
