Mountain Real Estate Capital (Mountain), a leading private equity investor in residential land development and homebuilding, has hired John Curry as general counsel. Based out of the firm's headquarters in Charlotte, N.C., Curry will oversee all aspects of legal services for the company in Charlotte as well as for its other locations in Minneapolis, San Diego and New York.

Curry specializes in several aspects of real estate finance, including joint venture agreements, purchase and sale contracts, zoning and commercial real estate acquisitions. In addition, he has significant experience in investment fund formation and management as well as advising on international investment within the U.S. commercial market.

He not only brings a wealth of knowledge and valuable development joint venture experience to our team, but has a solid track record with proven success," said Peter Fioretti, Mountain's chief executive officer. Prior to joining Mountain, Curry was with Winstead PC, where he represented publicly traded and privately held companies in commercial real estate financial transactions and other real estate matters. Previously, he worked at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP, where he advised large financial institutions on portfolio acquisitions, international investments and commercial real estate transactions.

Curry attended Duke University Law School, where he earned an LL.M. in May 2005. He earned a LL.M. in August 2004 from University College Dublin (UCD) in Dublin, Ireland, where he served as editor-in-chief of the UCD Law Review. There he also earned his BCL, graduating summa cum laude in August 2003.
