Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux linked the killings in the small farming community of Goshen to the illegal drug trade.

"As deputies arrived on scene, they noticed two victims. Two victims were apparently dead in the street. Deputies began calling for more assistance, and located a third victim of a shooting in the doorway of a residence where the gun fire was coming from. As deputies began searching the area, unfortunately they began finding multiple victims at this scene. At this point we have six total victims.

We have victims that are located inside the home. We have one victim that was alive as deputies arrived, and CPR was being given to the multiple victims on scene. Unfortunately, no one, including the man who went to the hospital via ambulance, he was also pronounced dead at the hospital. We can tell you that we believe we have at least two suspects, at this point. We also believe that this is not a random act of violence. We believe that this was a targeted family. We believe that there are gang associations involved in this scene, as well as potential narcotics investigations. As of a week ago, we as a sheriff's office conducted narcotics search warrants at this residence.

We have a 17-year-old mother, and a six-month old child, both of which were shot in the head. So, at this point we do believe this is a targeted act of violence, not a random act of violence. Currently we have our crime lab, which is at the scene, our forensics unit is on scene, we have our gang detectives as well as our homicide detectives, we have pulled out all resources to begin the investigation into this."
