Montana Democratic Party : Basis for Gianforte's Campaign Exposed as a Distortion

This morning on MTN News' Face The State, MSU Political Scientist Dr. David Parker challenged Greg Gianforte's claim that Montana is 49th in wages.

Dr. David Parker:
'...so isn't that really a bad number to actually look at our economy?'

'The economy in Montana in many respects and other metrics is really better and has been growing.'

'Greg Gianforte is caught red-handed misleading Montanans about the state of wages in Montana,' said Jason Pitt, spokesperson for the Montana Democratic Party. 'The fact remains that Montana's economy is strong under Governor Bullock. As Gianforte attempts to deceive Montanans, no amount of his irresponsible, distorted claims will stand up to the facts.'

In Dr. Parker's blog, he goes on to say, 'I argue this number very poorly reflects on the state of Montana's job picture and I am skeptical of its use.'

Unfortunately for Gianforte, he has made this 49th in wages claim a pillar of his campaign. With a political analyst now showing this statistic is distorted, why is Gianforte really running?

Gianforte is running to impose his out-of-the-mainstream agenda on Montanans.

• He wants to give tax breaks to millionaires like himself, while raising taxes on tens of thousands of Montana families.

• He has supported groups that want to privatize national forests and sell Montana's public lands off to the highest bidder, threatening our outdoor heritage

• He has supported groups that lobby to allow billionaires and big corporations to secretly buy and influence elections, and even a far right wing organization that has been classified as a hate group for supporting legalized discrimination

• He opposes a woman's right to choose and mocked seniors for receiving Social Security, saying that people have an 'obligation to work' and 'the concept of retirement is not biblical.'
