Following the direction of MOEA, TJPO persistently assists the communication between Taiwanese and Japanese local governments. In 2014, TJPO assisted the Taitung County Government to partner with Taiwan's Rakuten, Inc. by using e-commerce platform to sell Taitung's local products to overseas markets. Following this success, on January 21, 2016, TJPO facilitated the MOU signing among Taitung County Government, Iga City Government, and Shima City Government. This MOU was signed by Director Yu of the International Development and Planning Department in Taitung County Government, Mayor Ooguchi of Shima City, and Mayor Okamoto of Iga City in Japan. The ceremony was witnessed by the Director General Wu of Industrial Development Bureau at MOEA, Governor Huang of the Taitung County Government, and Governor Suzuki of Mie Prefecture in Japan.

The parties will cooperate to promote tourism and local industries through the collaborative promotion, such as using each other's local mascot. With this joint effort, the partnership will expand further into the culture, sports, food, and agriculture domains in order to raise local employment and enhance economic development.

Under the direction of MOEA, TJPO will continue to promote a wider and deeper partnership between Taiwanese and Japanese industries as well as local governments. These efforts, without a doubt, will contribute to the promotion of local economic development, employment, and mutually beneficial relationship between Taiwan and Japan.
