“There are just a couple days left in the current open enrollment period and it’s more important now than ever that New Yorkers sign up for health insurance under the ACA,” said Mayor de Blasio. “I’m so appreciative of our hardworking teams who have been hitting the streets for months, helping New Yorkers get the most out of the resources available to them.”
“We’re hitting the streets for this final push and to reach all New Yorkers in the coming days. It is important to bring the government to the people, which is why GetCoveredNYC is spreading out across the city to meet New Yorkers in their communities,” said Regina Schwartz, director of the NYC Mayor’s Public Engagement Unit. “Now is the time to for New Yorkers to take action. Signing up for health insurance is fast and affordable and the GetCoveredNYC team is eager to help you understand your options and navigate the enrollment process.”
Launched in 2016, GetCoveredNYC is a citywide initiative that helps New Yorkers enroll in healthcare insurance and access primary and preventive care. GetCoveredNYC specialists proactively engage uninsured New Yorkers, providing free support to help people understand their eligibility and assist them throughout the enrollment process. New Yorkers can enroll in low- or no-cost, quality insurance through the New York State of Health marketplace. The initiative is a partnership between the Mayor’s Public Engagement Unit, NYC Health and Hospitals, Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Human Resources Administration and MetroPlus Health Plan.
