Tools for the future: Crop Fair Feb. 13 in Red Oak provides essential management tips


JOHNSTON, Iowa - Jan. 23, 2015 - A local Crop Fair featuring an array of speakers and exhibits, will help area growers deal with volatility in agriculture, according to event organizers with the Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) and Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB).

The Feb. 13 "Tools for the future" Crop Fair, set for the Red Coach Inn, 1200 Senate Avenue in Red Oak, will feature speakers on key topics of interest to farmers, include informative displays, and allow participants to interact with local and state experts in agriculture. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. The program gets underway at 9 a.m. and will conclude at noon.

Featured presentations include:

  • Eat the Bear or the Bear Eats You by CommStock Investments President, David Kruse
  • The Effect of Weather by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Climatologist, Elwynn Taylor.  

"With market volatility, weather challenges, and the need to stay up-to-date on what's new in ag technology, we invite Iowa Corn farmers to attend this Crop Fair to glean the latest information to help manage their farming operation," said ICGA/ICPB District Field Manager Janelle Kracht.

Crop fair sponsors include: BASF, United Farmers Mercantile Cooperative, CommStock Investments, Mills/Montgomery Corn Growers Association, Iowa Corn District 7, Farm Credit Services, Iowa Corn Growers Association and Iowa Corn Promotion Board.

Pre-registration by Feb. 6 is encouraged. For details and to pre-register contact Janelle Kracht at 515-229-9980 or jkracht@iowacorn.org. Registration is free to Iowa Corn Grower members, $60 for non-members who register before Feb. 6. The cost is $90 for non-members who register after Feb. 6.
