HOUSTON, Jan. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Korsh Jafarnia, Houston hand and upper extremity specialist, joins the elite team of orthopedic and sports medicine specialists of the UT Physicians group and the Memorial City Ironman Sports Medicine Institute.

While also serving as an assistant professor, Dr. Jafarnia will be instrumental in the expansion of the organization's hand and upper extremity program. Officially joining the group January 1, 2016, he is now seeing patients at both the Memorial City and Texas Medical Center locations.

Serving as Chief of the Hand Center at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital and a faculty member of Weill Cornell Medical College, Dr. Jafarnia has played an integral role over the past five years charting a successful path for the hand and upper extremity program at Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine.

Board certified and fellowship trained, Dr. Jafarnia is one of Houston's top hand specialists and a nationally recognized Castle Connolly physician. He is sought for his expertise in hand and upper extremity trauma, repetitive stress injuries and conditions and joint degeneration.

Serving as a clinical assistant professor of Baylor College of Medicine for the past 15 years and clinical orthopaedic surgery for Weill Cornell Medical College, Dr. Jafarnia will now assume an expanded academic role as an assistant professor within UT Health, providing education and training in clinical practice and surgery.
