The report by the Heritage Foundation is excellent news for Macedonia encouraging many foreign companies to invest here in the future and to open jobs, which is the ultimate goal of all government-led policies, said Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski commenting the 2014 Index of Economic Freedom published yesterday.

According to the Index of Economic Freedom, which is jointly published by the Heritage Foundation and the Wall Street Journal, Macedonia is ranked 43rd out of 184 countries in the world.

"It is Macedonia's best score in the Index of Economic Freedom since its ranking in 2002. Out of ten indicators, Macedonia made progress in nine. The most serious progress was made in public finances control, trade and business freedom. It is an excellent signal to be the leader in the region. It's excellent news also because many investors, who follow the report, will feel more comfortable when considering to invest in Macedonia," Gruevski told reporters.

This is a result of all the efforts made by the Government to create a better business climate, better business environment and provide better economic freedom and liberalization, he added.
