WHITEHORSE-The Government of Yukon and the Yukon Chamber of Commerce will lead a business mission to Ottawa from January 31 to February 3, Economic Development Minister Stacey Hassard announced today.

'We are pleased to be working with the Yukon Chamber of Commerce to take a business mission to Ottawa during Yukon Days,' Hassard said. 'The mission will strengthen relationships between Yukon and Ottawa businesses, government and tourism operators as well as promote Yukon's industry to important partners.'

The business mission is a joint effort by the Department of Economic Development, the Department of Tourism and Culture and the Yukon Chamber of Commerce. Business and industry representatives from Yukon and Ottawa are expected to attend, as are delegates from the Government of Canada, the Government of Yukon and the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce.

'This business mission to Ottawa will provide members of the Yukon business community with opportunities to engage with their counterparts in the Ottawa region, promote Yukon tourism and build awareness of Air North's flights from Ottawa to Yellowknife and Whitehorse,' Chamber president Peter Turner said. 'It will also provide an opportunity for the Yukon Chamber to consult with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce on policy issues critical to supporting the Yukon business community and to growing Yukon's private sector economy.'

The Department of Economic Development will provide assistance to help offset travel costs for eligible business and industry representatives participating in the mission. Air North, Yukon's Airline is also providing a special discounted airfare for attendees.
