Council launches new start-up programme for businesses

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is calling on all aspiring entrepreneurs to take the first step to starting a business through its new Business Start-UpProgramme.

The Programme, which is being delivered by the Council in conjunction with Enterprise Northern Ireland, Omagh Enterprise Company Ltd and Fermanagh Enterprise, offers free tailored advice and practical support for those wishing to set upa new business. The programme also includes the production of a tailored business plan, one of the first important steps to starting a new business.

In welcoming the new Council funded programme, the Chairperson of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Mary Garrity, said that she was delighted the Council was to the forefront in supporting entrepreneurial activity in the district.

'This district has a strong rate of business start-upand it is vital that we as a Council continue to support our small and micro-businesses which are the life blood of our economy.

As well as free support and advice offered through the programme, it is important to note the vital role a robust business plan plays in starting a new business. A business plan helps to clarify the business idea, spot potential problems, set goals and access finance to startand grow a business. I would encourage any aspiring entrepreneur to get involved in the new programme,' Councillor Garrity added.

Gordon Gough, Chief Executive of Enterprise NI who is delivering the programme in partnership with Fermanagh Enterprise Centre and Omagh Enterprise Company said:

'I am delighted that Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is launching the Business Start-UpProgramme which will support entrepreneurs and new start-upbusinesses in the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council area. The programme offers free support and guidance to anyone who is interested in starting a new business and also provides a business plan for the client. Finally, I am delighted to welcome the programme and congratulate the Council on its work to get it to this stage of delivery.'
