Edmodo, the world's largest, free K-12 social learning platform connecting more than 30 million teachers and students, today announced the release of the redesigned Edmodo Android app at BETT 2014, the leading global learning technology event. Revamped to bring users a streamlined mobile experience, the Android app features a more intuitive interface and is similar in functionality to Edmodo's recently updated iPad app.

The new design emphasizes core functions most used by teachers and students on mobile devices in the classroom environment. The app allows users to create and join Edmodo groups, post to their respective groups as well as to Edmodo subject communities, check notifications, create or turn in assignments, view the user library, track progress, and edit their profiles.

"We wanted to make Edmodo available across all devices with the same look and feel so users have seamless access no matter their device preference," said Damon Sicore, vice president of engineering at Edmodo. "This new release of our Android app shows our dedication to supporting the growth of mobile devices used in education. We've recognized Android's increasing popularity both domestically and abroad, and we developed the app to continue facilitating collaborative learning throughout classrooms worldwide."

The Android app builds off the web version to make full classroom management and interaction possible. New accounts can be created from the app, and teachers can use the app to share content, such as files and videos, with students, integrating innovative and dynamic material into lesson plans. The app is available in English, Spanish, Japanese and Portuguese. Language preferences will automatically be selected depending on device language settings.
