ETC Simulation Introduces New SmartModel Technology in the Advanced Disaster Management Simulator

Southampton, PA, USA,  January 10, 2012 - Environmental Tectonics Corporation's ("ETC" or the "Company") Simulation Division, located in Orlando, FL, announced today the recent launch of it's SmartModel(TM) technology, available within the Advanced Disaster Management Simulator ("ADMS").

The new SmartModel(TM) technology consists of a library of 3D objects and elements that can be inserted into a Master Scenario Events List (MSEL) exercise scenario, either as a time- or trigger-based event, or as on on-the-fly inject. This new development offers additional incident scenario generating capabilities to training staff and enhanced training benefit to trainees.

"An incident can change dramatically based on the introduction of just one variable, whether that variable is the presence of group of bystanders, the number of involved vehicles, the presence of a hazardous material, or even the location of a fence line," stated Marco van Wijngaarden, President of ETC Simulation.  "ADMS was developed to train for All-Hazards events and 'what-if' incidents, and  the development of the SmartModel library exponentially increases this capability.  Exercise staff can easily develop unlimited training scenarios, each requiring different decisions from the trainees. We are pleased that this system enhancement will ultimately better prepare command teams and operations center staff for any real-world event."

The SmartModel library currently contains various intelligent elements including vehicles, crowds, casualties, threats, and hazards.  ETC Simulation will continuously add to the library in their effort to meet training priorities and objectives of the emergency management community.

About ADMS

ADMS(TM) is the high-fidelity Virtual Reality Simulation Training Stage that houses multiple products to include incident command training from technical to strategic level (ADMS-Command), driver training and vehicle operation (ADMS-ARFF and ADMS-Drive) and multiple level police coordination for crowd management and riot control (ADMS-Control).  ETC's signature technology blends physics-based simulation, embedded artificial intelligence, accurate animations, photo-realistic graphics, ambient sounds, vehicle controls, and motion platforms to totally immerse trainees in the exercise.  ADMS enables first responders and emergency managers to prepare at all levels of response in a safe, economical and environmentally-conscious way.
