Communications services companies rose amid mixed earnings reports.

Sphere Entertainment fell after the operator of a popular new Las Vegas attraction took a hit from a slowdown at MSG Networks, the regional sports network that the company also houses.

Shares of Madison Square Garden Entertainment, which, like Sphere, is controlled by the Dolan family, rose after the operator of iconic venues Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall reiterated its fiscal 2024 revenue projection.

Virgin Galactic said it would cut jobs and expenses to focus on producing its lower-cost Delta spaceships.

Shares of Warner Bros. Discovery tumbled as a boost from box-office hit "Barbie" was offset by a drop in advertising revenue and streaming subscribers.
