Thanks for your input; new K9 now has a name. In last week's Scottsdale Update, we asked for your help naming the Police Department's newest K9. Welcome - 'Chase' to Scottsdale. Here's how the votes stacked up: Chase - 883; Charlie - 865; Chip - 702; Copper -698; and Churchill - 508.

Partnership with Maricopa Ambulance will maintain high level of patient care. The city of Scottsdale and its Fire Department further galvanized its public safety priorities by awarding an ambulance transportation contract to Maricopa Ambulance. It's the Fire Department's responsibility to provide citizens with the most effective and efficient emergency medical care and service. The partnership with Maricopa Ambulance maintains this service by ensuring the life-saving practice of continuity of care. Learn more about the partnership.

Online billing customers see changes. The new online paperless site is easier to use, mobile responsive and provides information to help customers get the most from city services. If not yet done, customers must reset passwords. For assistance, email UtilityBilling@ScottsdaleAZ.gov or call 480-312-2461 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays).

EVENTS

Scottsdazzle events continue in December. Spread the holiday cheer through the end of the year - Canal concerts, wine tastings, Cowboy Christmas and more. Here's the Scottsdazzle calendar.

Holiday Lights continues through Jan. 7. Festivities take place from 6 to 9 p.m. nightly, with just a few exceptions, at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park. The Holiday Lights experience on the Paradise & Pacific Railroad is $5 with children 2 and younger riding free with a paying adult. Avoid lines by buying a fast pass. Get event details.

Library hours change starting Jan. 2. Due to public demand and usage patterns at our libraries, we are expanding hours at some of our locations and reducing hours at other branches. View the new schedule.

Reduce your winter water use and save. Scottsdale Water calculates sewer fees based on winter water use. Reducing your use during December, January and February will help you save money all year long.

A fully-accessible playground is coming to Chaparral Park. Scottsdale Parks and Recreation and Human Services have teamed up to build a new state-of-the-art, interactive and ADA accessible playground at Chaparral Park. While the site is closed due to construction, the paths around Chaparral Lake and the community center remain open. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at the park at 4 p.m. Jan. 17.

PROGRAMS & SERVICES

Via Linda Senior Center art show draws gallery-caliber talent, Friday. Artwork by students and instructors will be on display at a reception starting at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, at the center.
