The reconstruction of Old Hearne Road and Wilkes Street in the Lynndale Acres neighborhood continues with updated work zones and road closures effective today, January 8, 2018. Contractors are installing new water and sanitary sewer lines, completing culvert improvements, and resurfacing the roadway as part of this ongoing infrastructure improvements project. Detours will be in place to guide traffic around the work area.

WHAT: Road Closures
WHERE: Old Hearne Road between Willhelm Drive and McHaney Drive; Wilkes Street between Bonham Drive and the N. Earl Rudder Freeway (SH 6) Frontage Road; Bonham Drive between Wilkes Street and the driveway for Bonham Elementary School
WHEN: Monday, January 8

The intersections of Old Hearne Road & McHaney Drive, Old Hearne Road & Wilkes Street, and Wilkes Street & Bonham Drive are open to through traffic, except as noted above. Work began on this multi-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP) project in August 2016. Work will be performed from 7 AM until 5 PM, excluding the weekends.

This CIP project includes infrastructure improvements for Wilkes Street, Old Hearne Road, Willhelm Drive, and Missouri Avenue. Drivers are encouraged to follow the posted detour signage, utilize alternate routes, and allow extra travel time during the construction period. In addition, drivers are asked to please use caution and pay special attention when traveling through the construction area.
