Bernstein Private Wealth Management (Bernstein), a unit of AllianceBernstein L.P. (AB), announced today that Kathleen Fisher will retire as Head of Wealth and Investment Strategies, effective March 27, 2020. Fisher joined Bernstein in 2001 as a private client Senior Portfolio Manager and assumed leadership of Wealth Strategies in 2013 and the Senior Investment Strategist group in 2014. She was elected Partner and became Head of Wealth and Investment Strategies in 2017.

Fisher will be transitioning her responsibilities to Aaron Bates, Senior Managing Director; Alex Chaloff, Head of Alternative Asset Strategies; and Beata Kirr, Head of Core Asset Strategies. Aaron Bates will become Head of Wealth Strategies and Alex Chaloff and Beata Kirr will become Co-heads of Investment Strategies.

“I am incredibly thankful to have worked with so many talented and dedicated colleagues throughout my nearly two decades at Bernstein,” said Fisher. “I’m confident that our highly experienced team of Aaron, Alex, and Beata will continue to build on all that we’ve accomplished.”

This next generation of leadership brings deep experience and commitment to their new roles. Aaron Bates’ significant experience working with complex, global families will contribute to an innovative thought leadership agenda going forward. For the past year, Bates has developed content and led the execution of highly successful programs focusing on ultra-high-net-worth, multigenerational families and entrepreneurs. He has managed Bernstein’s Boston office since 2014 and has been the leader of Bernstein’s European practice since 2010.

Alex Chaloff has been playing a leadership role in asset allocation and investment strategy with many of the firm’s largest clients since 2005, and his work has distinguished Bernstein as a thought leader in the allocation of alternative investments. He led the development of a groundbreaking quantitative tool to provide advice around asset allocation, including alternative investments, and authored a white paper on the subject. He has also managed the product development of new investment strategies for the last several years, working out of the Los Angeles office.

Since 2007, Beata Kirr has led investment implementation for Bernstein’s largest Midwestern clients from the Chicago office. Since 2017, she has also overseen Bernstein’s core asset allocation advice, significantly evolving Bernstein’s platform breadth and flexibility to customize to clients’ unique needs. In addition, her passion to help female investors succeed led to the creation of the firm’s national Women & Wealth brand, and she is the host of the “Bernstein Insights” Women & Wealth podcast series.

“We are extremely grateful to Kathy for her many years of leadership and her immeasurable contributions to the firm,” said David Barnard, Head of Bernstein Private Wealth Management. “She has been an inspiring role model and colleague, and we wish her all the best in this next chapter.”

“We are fortunate to have such a strong bench of talent to succeed her and make this a seamless transition,” continued Barnard.
