The Banco de Portugal participates in the second green fund for central banks launched by the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), reinforcing its commitment to environmentally responsible investment practices.

This euro-denominated fund builds on the success of the first, US dollar-denominated green bond fund, launched in September 2019 by the BIS, also with the participation of the Banco de Portugal.

By reinforcing the sustainability requirements in the management of its investment assets, the Banco de Portugal reaffirms its commitment to contribute to the global effort to promote environmental objectives and, in particular, to fight climate change.

Since December 2018, the Banco de Portugal has been a member of the Central Banks and Supervisors Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS), the international network promoting environmental responsibility in the financial sector.
