Terrain Minerals Limited is pleased to announce that it has been accepted for the Co-funded Government Industry Drilling Program for drilling at Aztec Dome.
The funding is for 50% of the direct drilling cost of one hole to a maximum of $200,000.
The diamond drill hole will be targeted to a depth of 1000m to prove the geological sequence at Aztec Dome is similar to Kambalda Dome 12 km to the south west.
The ideal sequence would be basalt followed by an ultramafic kamatitic sequence (including spinafex texture) with a basalt base to the ultramafics. At Kambalda the massive nickel sulphide ore bodies lie on the basal contact of the ultramafics. These were originally discovered in 1967 and have been mined continuously to produce over 1,000,000 tonnes of contained nickel metal.
Diamond drilling has commenced at Aztec Dome and will be completed early February 2012.
