WASHINGTON-Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) released the following statement on today's signing of a phase one trade deal with China by President Donald Trump and Chinese Vice Premier Liu He:

'As Kansas' third largest trading partner, today's deal with China is monumental for farmers, manufacturers and workers in our state and throughout our country,' said Rep. Estes. 'This deal eases tariffs and increases Chinese purchases of U.S. goods and services by $200 billion, including nearly $50 billion in ag products. While I have said all along tariffs are not a long-term solution, I applaud President Trump, Ambassador Lighthizer and the entire administration for bringing China to the table to secure this deal. I look forward to working with the administration to forge a Phase Two agreement with China and secure free and fair trade deals with countries around the world.'

Ron Estes is a 5th generation Kansan and represents Kansas' 4th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. He serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means.
