Huge discount. Tesla has slashed the base price of its Model 3 in China by 16% to reflect government subsidies, it announced on its Chinese website.

Change of management. The cosmetics group Avon has announced the resignation of its managing director, Jan Zijderveld, and his replacement by Roberto Marques, who was the managing director of Natura & Co, which concluded its takeover in 2019.

Buyer no more. Illumina, a laboratory specializing in genome sequencing gave up on its acquisition of Pacific Biosciences of California for 1.2 billion dollars. This decision comes after it faced opposition from American competition authorities.

Electric’s the way. Electric and hybrid cars could account for the majority of sales in ten years' time, according to a study from the Boston Consulting Group. They are expected to represent 51% of global car sales by 2030. The continued decline in battery costs is expected to drive the market from 2023 onwards.

Apple gets a star. The former CEO of the HBO channel Richard Plepler signed an exclusive five-year production agreement with Apple's new television platform. Now at the head of his own production company, Plepler will produce several exclusive series and films for Apple TV+, Apple's video service launched in November.

Amazon’s double standards. A group of Amazon employees claim that the online sales giant threatened to fire some of them for speaking out on environmental issues. In a Twitter post, the group said some employees had been contacted by Amazon's legal and human resources teams regarding public comments they made, threatening to terminate their employment should they continue. This comes after Amazon said it would do more to fight climate change.
