"The Anti-Virus Comparative Summary Report 2013 is a great summary of the public main test-series we conducted in the past year," commented Andreas Clementi, AV-Comparatives founder and CEO. "Like all our public reports, it's free and available in several languages from our website."

Kaspersky Internet Security received three stars in all nine tests performed by AV-Comparatives in 2013. Bitdefender Internet Security received three stars in eight of the nine tests, and ESET Smart Security in seven of the nine tests. There was a whole range of total stars awarded, from Kaspersky's twenty-seven stars to one company's product that received five stars and four "tested" ratings

The top rated products, after Product of the Year for Kaspersky Lab, came from Avast, Avira, Bitdefender, BullGuard, ESET, Fortinet and F-Secure (alphabetical order).

"As with fine wine, the market-share leaders in antivirus and Internet security are not necessarily the ones that finished top in testing. Readers may be surprised at some of the test results and rankings", said Peter Stelzhammer, AV-Comparatives' co-founder and Member of the Board.

Stelzhammer explained that AV-Comparatives' "Real-World Protection Test" is the most comprehensive test available when it comes to evaluating the real-life protection capabilities of antivirus software. "This test's framework replicates what an ordinary user experiences in an everyday online environment," he said.
