This A.M.BestTV episode, looks at the Property/Casualty Insurance Joint Industry Forum held earlier this week in New York, NY, where insurance leaders said they expect continued growth in the industry. However, they warned that the industry has been bolstered by unusually low catastrophe losses in recent years. Click on http://www.ambest.com/v.asp?v=pcjointforum116 to view the entire program.

17 organizations sponsored this 20th annual event, which was attended by about 300 insurance executives. These industry leaders see real headwinds for 2016; but accompanying these headwinds is a huge range of innovative opportunities, which will allow for the expansion of the boundaries for insurability.

“A.M. Best is maintaining a stable outlook on the personal lines segment, which reflects very much price control, steady state, price increases that follow inflation. So that’s pretty stable,” said Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Matt Mosher, A.M. Best Rating Services, Inc. “When you look at reinsurance, it is a market that has an influx of capital, a lot of pressures on the businesses. That also plays into the commercial lines view as well, constant pressure on the rates, because reinsurance is cheaper. With no major moves, that is why the outlooks are somewhat consistent with where the industry has been over the past few years,” continued Mosher.
