Mr. Philip L.
Miller is a President & Chief Strategist at Strategic International Securities Research, Inc. He founded Strategic International Research in 2007 based on the belief that independent equity research is a necessity for the finance community.
Mr. Miller began his career teaching political science at Tufts University and the State University of New York at Binghamton.
Prior to teaching he had worked at the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago for James S.
Coleman the author of the Coleman Report of 1966, and at the Center for the study of the Economy and the State under director George J.
Stigler of the University of Chicago the 1982 winner of the Nobel Prize in economics.
Miller’s master’s thesis was chaired by Norman Nie at the University of Chicago the founder of SPSS the dominant statistical package used at almost all Universities worldwide.
His finance career began in the late 1990’s with a position at Morgan Stanley as a financial advisor.
It was a troubling period going into the early 2000’s experiencing the interdependence of investment banking on equity research.
He holds a masters degree in economics from the University of Chicago and is ABD in political science.
He received a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California at Berkeley.
He holds the series 7, 66, 3, 24, 86 & 87 security licenses.
