Varunok is Senior Vice President, Head of securitized research, trading and portfolio manager at Franklin Advisers, Inc. He is a fixed-income portfolio manager where he specializes in the mortgage-backed securities, asset-backed securities, commercial mortgage-backed securities and collateralized mortgage obligation markets.
Prior to joining Franklin Templeton Investments in 2001, Mr. Varunok spent eight years as a fixed-income analyst for Prudential Securities, Inc. in New York City.
At Prudential, he held various research positions in both the mortgage- and asset-backed securities (MBS/ABS) markets.
He started his career at Prudential as a reverse-engineer of both ABS and MBS transactions and subsequently moved into the structuring of those products.
From 1996-2000, he concentrated his efforts in the ABS market where he was an ABS researcher and market strategist.
He received his BS degree in Finance from New York University.
