Haverford Financial Services, Inc. (HFS) is a registered investment advisor headquartered in Radnor, Pennsylvania. The firm was founded by George W. Connell in 2004 and is a wholly owned by Drexel Morgan & Co. HFS provides investment advice to individuals, banks and thrift institutions, investment companies, pooled investment vehicles, pension and profit-sharing plans, charitable organizations, corporations, business entities, state and municipal government entities and unions.

In 1915 Charles Edward Merrill founded Merrill Lynch & Co. (NYSE: MER) with Edmund C. Lynch in Baltimore, Maryland. The modern Merrill Lynch was formed in 1940 through mergers with E.A. Pierce & Cassatt and, soon after, Fenner & Beane. In 1973, Merrill Lynch adopted a holding company format, with Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc. as the parent and Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith as the operating subsidiary. Merrill Lynch Asset Management, Inc. (MLAM) was created as an integral business unit in the Merrill Lynch family in 1976. Fund Asset Management, doing business as Mercury Asset Management, was acquired in December 1997. In 2000, MLAM and Mercury were combined under the name Merrill Lynch Investment Managers. MLAM manages the Merrill Lynch family of mutual funds, as and acts as sub-advisor to other mutual funds.

Haverford Trust’s active investment strategy is referred to as Haverford Quality Investing. This approach is designed to provide superior returns with less risk, primarily through investments in the securities of high-quality dividend-paying companies. The firm systematically allocates investments across a range of qualifying securities in a variety of growing industries. The turnover in their portfolios (sale and purchase of assets) at 15-25% is low by industry standards. Haverford Trust may sell an asset that has appreciated significantly in value in order to maintain diversification and keep your portfolio from being too heavily dependent on a stock or sector. They maintain that high quality, intermediate-term bonds provide the most attractive risk-adjusted returns.
