Ms. Burhans grew up in St. Petersburg, Russia and received a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Petersburg University of Economics and Finance in 1993.
The same year she completed a course in international finance at Stockholm School of Economics, Stockholm, Sweden.
Throughout 1992 Ms. Burhans worked with the World Bank in the Transition & Macroeconomics division, researching the private manufacturing sector in St. Petersburg.
In 1994 she earned her Master of Science degree in International Economic Relations with honors, also from St. Petersburg University.
