Dean Collins is based in London and is a member of Actis’s fundraising and investor relations team, where his responsibilities include leading certain fundraising activities, managing the operation of our fund investor panels, and overseeing the legal issues relating to the structuring, establishment and negotiation of Actis’s funds.
He joined Actis in 2002 to work on Actis’s buyout from CDC.
Subsequent to the buyout he worked on the establishment of all of Actis’s private equity funds, as well as distressed debt and real estate funds.
Dean Collins has been involved in private equity fundraisings since 1995, initially as a lawyer with S J Berwin, where he spent six and a half years, working predominantly with institutions on their fundraising efforts as well as on investments, exits, spin-outs, fund secondaries and a range of other corporate finance matters.
He has also worked as a consultant for UBS Capital, Merrill Lynch, Wide Multimedia (a venture backed e-learning company) and Ocado (the online grocery business).
He qualified as a solicitor in 1995 and studied law at Cambridge University.
