WPX Energy Inc. is expanding its operations in the Permian to over 120,000 net acres through the acquisition of 920 gross undeveloped locations in the Delaware Basin and other production assets for about $775 million. The deal also includes about 6,500 barrels of oil equivalent per day of existing production, 55% of which is oil, from 23 producing wells, two drilled but uncompleted horizontal laterals and 18,100 net acres in Reeves, Loving, Ward and Winkler counties in Texas, according to a Jan. 12 news release. With the additional assets, WPX Energy's total gross drillable locations in the Delaware Basin would increase to about 6,400 from 5,500.
