Gujarat NRE Coking Coal Limited announced that regarding a work force restructure and its proposal to achieve around a 20% reduction across its entire workforce, without effecting its mining operations and developments. In order to achieve the above and to keep the forced redundancies to an absolute minimum, the company introduced a Voluntary Redundancy Scheme to its entire workforce. The company received a number of redundancy applications and after perusing each application, 47 applications were accepted.

Some of the applications received were not accepted in consideration of the skills and experience of each applicant and nature of the position they hold. It is critical for the company to ensure that the Scheme doesn't impact on its current and proposed mining operations and development programs. The 47 successful volunteers will end their employment this week.
