TranSwitch Corp. announced that the company's HDplay transceiver has been selected by Tecnoroll for several video encoder solutions. These video encoder solutions include complete modules embedded in systems sold by major OEMs. Video encoder modules allow HD video to be compressed into the standard H.264 digital format and transmitted via twisted pair or optical cable.

Using this H.264 compression engine, multiple HD video streams can be reliably transmitted, using a single channel, over long distances. These video encoder modules are now increasingly supporting both HDMI and DisplayPort connectivity to allow users to connect a wide array of source devices. According to a report by TechNavio, the HDMI(R)-enabled device shipments are forecasted to increase at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 19.7% from 2012 to 2016, while DisplayPort(TM)-enabled device shipments are expected to grow at a CAGR of 31.6% during the same time period.

TranSwitch's HDplay transceivers use the Company's patented HDP(TM) technology to provide the industry's only solution that offers both HDMI and DisplayPort functionality on a single integrated circuit. With HDplay powering a HDTV, projector, video switch, or video encoder, end-users are able to conveniently connect a wide range of multimedia devices. HDplay also utilizes TranSwitch's patented AnyCable(TM) technology, enabling the user to confidently select long and inexpensive cables, while maintaining HDMI 1.4 performance.
