Jermain Defoe is raring to go as we prepare to kick-off 2012 against West Brom at White Hart Lane on Tuesday night.

It's the first match of a busy home schedule with four games at the Lane in the space of 11 days - three in the Premier League and our FA Cup third round tie against Cheltenham on Saturday.

'JD' returned from a hamstring injury with a 20-minute spell off the bench as we drew 1-1 at Swansea on Saturday.

Now he's looking to play a part against the Baggies, who suffered a 1-0 home loss against Everton just two days ago.

"I missed three games in a short space of time," said Jermain, who currently sits on 110 goals for the club, level with the great Glenn Hoddle.

"No-one wants to get injured, it was a hamstring, quite minor, but I have to be careful, especially with the way I play.

"I've no problems now and I'm ready to go.

"West Brom have only had one full day's rest, so that could play a part, especially with the intensity of the Premier League.

"Every game is massive, every game is like a cup final and we need to get the points to stay up there.

"Everyone is beating everyone this season and we have to win to stay up there.

"I can't wait for 2012 to get going. Hopefully I'll get a chance on Tuesday and do my stuff."
