Tauron decided to halt the 910 MW power unit for safety reasons, after a fire that took place and was quickly extinguished in Jaworzno power plant, The information was later confirmed by the fire brigade captain. The 910 MW power unit worth over PLN 6 billion (EUR 1.39 billion) in Jaworzno was commissioned with delays in November 2020. A few months later it was shut down because of technical issues.

It was relaunched again in April 2022 and was shut down temporarily two more times. Tauron had a months-long dispute with Rafako, who was the investment's main contractor. According to Rafako, the reason for the failure was the inadequate quality of coal supplied by Tauron.

According to Tauron the causes were numerous defects and faults of the unit. Eventually, a settlement was signed in March 2023. At the end of March this year, Tauron reported that the 910 MW power unit had passed all acceptance testing required by Poland's grid operator Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne (PSE) and was ready for unrestricted commercial operation.
