Tata Power, India's largest integrated power company, has always been undertaking several green initiatives to conserve the environment and sensitise their stakeholders. Driving this forward, Industrial Energy Limited (IEL), a joint venture of Tata Power and Tata Steel, Company organised a 'Plastic Free Campaign', at Kalinganagar, as part of their Employee Volunteering Programme.

The objective of this initiative was to spread awareness and sensitise locals on the environmental and health hazards that are triggered as a result of using plastic. An attempt was made to educate the employees and community at large about the harmful effects of plastic and bring about a behavioral change among the people to stop using Polythene bags. The Rally was followed by an interactive session on environmental issues in the form of a quiz, where senior leaders and employees shared their respective ideas and thoughts on environmental protection and energy conservation.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Vijayant Ranjan, CEO-IEL & Chief Kalinganagar Station said'Industrial Energy Limited has always worked towards protecting the environment in and around its project locations. We are delighted that we have been able to educate the society and provide awareness on the harmful effects of plastic. IEL, Kalinganagar will continue to organise such events in the future since we believe that small initiatives like this will contribute immensely in making our future better.'

Congratulating the team, Mr. Asim Thakurta, Chief - Corporate Projects, Tata Power, said,'Our team has done a commendable job in terms of community engagement and awareness. Nearly forty five volunteers from IEL and Tata Power participated in this campaign, including the senior management. In line with the governments' 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan', Tata Power has been conducting various cleanliness drives in and around its plant operations.
