Tata Power : Launches Awareness Programme for to Encourage Women Empowerment in Mumbai

Tata Power, India's largest integrated power company, has always adopted a focused approach towards women empowerment by implementing various programmes for women living in and around its areas of operation. In line with the commitment, Tata Power organised an awareness visit to RCF Police Station for the Self-Help Group (SHG) women members to make them aware of the necessary legal procedures for their safety. Around 57 SHG members participated in the programme.

The objective of the visit was to educate the SHG members about various issues regarding women safety and how to raise their voice against such crimes. Women Police officers interacted with the SHG members and updated them about procedures of FIR, NC, various IPC sections related to crime against women, and toll-free numbers such as 103, 1098, 100, and 108.

Talking about the initiative, Mr. Ashok Sethi,Executive Director and COO, Tata Power, said, 'We, at Tata Power have always remained committed towards the safety and security of women in our areas of operation. This initiative will not only educate women about their rights but empower them to fight back without any hesitation. The initiative was a great success and was appreciated by the women participants. Crimes against women are on a rise and women are unable to fight for themselves as they don't know the right legal processes. Tata Power is working towards creating community-level pressure groups of SHG women to deal with issues of crime against women at local level.
