Tata Power, India's largest integrated power company, has always prioritised to improve the quality of education of the students living in and around its operational areas. In line with this commitment, the Tata Power Community Development Trust (TPCDT) rolled out E-Learning programme in 3 Zila Public (ZP) schools in Dherand and Shahapur villages. Around 111 students from class 1 to 4 benefited from the initiative.

TPCDT, in partnership with Navneet Foundation, conducted the smart classes with a motto to encourage students to study Maths and different languages. The objective of the classes is to identify lagging students with the help of E-Learning system, provide special support for their improvement throughout the academic year. TPCDT started the initiative to support The Government of India's Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, which mandates State to provide free education to children between the age group of 6 to 14 years.

Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Ashok Sethi,Executive Director and COO, Tata Power, said, 'We, at Tata Power believe that children are key to our future; which is why we are committed to improving the standard of education of schools. Through this programme, we take another step towards educating children in underprivileged areas. We are proud of the CSR team for such a wonderful initiative. I encourage everyone to ensure their bit in making a difference to the society.'

With Navneet Foundation supporting this cause with Rs.1.50 lakhs, the programme witnessed an overwhelming response from the students and teachers. The initiative will further reinforce Tata Power's commitment towards educational initiatives in its operational areas and will help in strengthening the relationship with its communities.
