Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries : The Offshore Wind Turbine with the Largest Single Capacity in Asia Pacific is Connected to the Grid

Recently, the capacity expansion project of Jieyang Shenquan II 350 MW Offshore Wind Power Project< that is, the world's largest commercial single capacity 11 MW direct drive wind turbine, was connected to the grid for power generation.

The project site is located in the south sea area of Shenquan Town, Jieyang City, Guangdong Province. The water depth of the site ranges from 34m to 39m, and the offshore distance from the center of the site is about 25 km. Longyuan Zhenhua was responsible for the fabrication, transportation and construction of the single pile foundation of 25 wind turbines, the transportation and installation of 25 wind turbines, the fabrication, transportation and construction of the basic jacket and steel pipe piles of the booster station, and the transportation and installation of the upper blocks of the booster station.

The first grid-connected No. 35 Wind Turbine broke two world records. With a length of 112.68m, a weight of 2407.5 tons and a maximum pile diameter of 10.5m, its single pile is currently the heaviest and largest diameter single pile foundation in the world, as well as the first single pile in China to successfully use a 9-meter class all-welded pile driving equipment for pile sinking. In addition, as the world's largest commercial single-capacity wind turbine, its nacelle-generator assembly alone weighs a total of 500 tons, with a hub center height of 130m, requiring a lifting height of 140 m or more for wind power cranes.
