Shaftesbury announces Sweaty Betty Flagship at 1 Carnaby Street

Shaftesbury is delighted to announce that directional fitness brand Sweaty Betty will open their European flagship at 1 Carnaby Street. The prominent 2,200 sq ft corner store is located at the South entrance to Carnaby Street and is the result of the brand upscaling from their existing store on Beak Street where they have been a tenant since 2002. The shop is arranged over ground and basement floors allowing the brand to expand and offer the full clothing, accessories and equipment collections, as well as housing a studio space for exclusive wellness events, giving a wider customer experience.

Born in London, Sweaty Betty has been ensuring that 'style meets performance' in women's active wear for over 15 years. The brand's mission is to 'inspire women to find empowerment through fitness'. Sweaty Betty has over 40 boutiques in the United Kingdom, ten boutiques in the United States and outposts in world famous department stores Harrods, Selfridges, and Bloomingdale's.

Sweaty Betty's founder and Creative Director Tamara Hill-Norton is renowned for fusing fashion and fitness, pioneering the Sports Luxe category. The brand is distinguished by its unique London heritage, flattering and high performance apparel in statement colours and prints. Sweaty Betty has featured on the London Fashion Week runway, putting the brand at the forefront of performance and style.

Owner, Simon Hill-Norton says; 'We are so proud to be launching our London flagship at the iconic 1 Carnaby Street. Sweaty Betty first opened in Carnaby in 2002, when Shaftesbury were in full swing of their regeneration of this historic London shopping district. Through a long-term, innovative management strategy, Carnaby is a desired retail and F&B destination for brands opening concepts that offer a unique consumer experience ensuring Carnaby stands out from the normal high street or shopping centre tenant line-up.
