Samsung SDI Co. Ltd. reported earnings results for the fourth quarter and year ended December 2011. For the quarter, company reported that earnings declined 32.5% from a year earlier as demand for key products remained sluggish amid the eurozone debt crisis. The company's net profit totaled KRW 54.9 billion ($48.9 million) compared with KRW 81.3 billion a year earlier. Sales, however, gained 15.5% on-year to KRW 1.44 trillion, while operating profit fell 24.3% to KRW 11.1 billion. The company said its weaker quarterly earnings came as the continued eurozone debt crisis hurt demand for tech products and damage wrought by flooding in Thailand undercut the production of laptops.
