The President of Rocket and Space Corporation Energia Vladimir Solntsev and Director of the State Scientific Center of the Russian Federation Institute for Biomedical Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences Oleg Orlov have signed a strategic partnership agreement.

The Agreement states that cooperation between the Corporation and IBMP is aimed at implementation of work related to biomedical support of manned space missions to low Earth orbit and beyond, including lunar orbit and the surface of the Moon, missions to Mars and other bodies of the Solar System. Cooperation program includes, in particular, conducting comprehensive studies and experiments to evaluate harmful effects of space flight environment on human body.

The IBMP delegation included participants in the isolation experiment Luna-2015. The Corporation guests were given a tour. The delegation were shown a mockup of a transformable module built to 1-to-6 scale, as well as reentry vehicle of the New-Generation Crew Transportation Spacecraft 'Federatsia' ('Federation'), which will be used in a future mission to the Moon.

The isolation experiment Luna-2015 was conducted at IMBP during a period of October 28 through November 6, 2015. A crew of six girls spent nine days in a ground facility simulating a mission to the Moon. In this way the scientists were studying the mechanisms of the female body adaptation to the condition of isolation in a pressurized cabin and obtained data on the crew health status using complete analogues of scientific instruments available onboard the ISS.

Joint Stock Company RSC Energia is the leader in the rocket and space industry, and the prime contractor for manned space systems. The Corporation conducts work on the development of unmanned space and rocket systems (launch vehicles and orbital transfer vehicles), and high-technology systems for various non-space applications. Since August 2014, the Corporation is headed by Vladimir Solntsev.
