On 9 January 2018, a road tanker containing 16 KL of Acetone overturned and caught fire on Baruch-Jambusar Gujarat State Highway near Amod, Gujarat at around 17.00 Hrs. A request was received from PI of Police Station, Amod to the Incharge of Fire Services Ankleshwar Asset. Immediately Fire tender from ONGC Fire Station; North Gandhar was mobilised. The state highway traffic was stopped, resulting in heavy traffic jam. However police cleared the way for our fire service team to reach the site.

The fire crew headed by FM-I Mr. SS Parmar, alongwith FM-II Mr. HC Yadav and FM-II Mr. BU Pawar, on arrival sensed that it is a major incident and needs additional resources to contain the fire. Further delay in fire fighting operation would aggregate it. So they decided to take up the challenge head on.

Their courage, determination and skill came handy to control and extinguish the fire in least possible time and prevent the major catastrophy. Otherwise as per SOP it required minimum two crew to control the fire. Police department had appreciated their efforts and conveyed thanks to ONGC for timely help.
