Nuvera was awarded $1,918,037 and is matching an additional $3,501,580, for a total of $5,419,617 in local community investments. President and CEO Glenn Zerbe confirmed the projects will be scheduled in the spring of 2021. 'We are very pleased to be awarded all five grants, especially in a time when staying connected has never been more important,' he said. 'The grants will be utilized to extend our network and bring reliable, affordable broadband services to customers in these areas, providing Gigabit speeds via fiber-to-the home exceeding 2026 state speed goals.'
Nuvera already had ambitious 2021 plans to extend fiber to homes and businesses in New Ulm, Scott/Rice Counties and Hutchinson at a record pace. In addition, Nuvera will begin offering the latest 5G Fixed Wireless technology from at least a dozen towers around Minnesota serving both our traditional customers and those adjacent to our service areas. 'This record level of investment builds upon our prior years progress in both New Ulm and Prior Lake,' stated Zerbe. 'These efforts will help to meet the demands of our customers' increasing broadband needs now and into the future.'
