Channels (FIC), which distributes TV channels and digital
services worldwide and is the sister company of 20th
Century Fox Studios, has announced today the acquisition of
the Finnish FTA TV Channel, Suomi TV, expanding the
company's Nordic presence into Finland.
The acquisition of Suomi TV is the latest step in FIC's
ongoing Nordic growth strategy and represents FIC's
continued commitment to the region. FIC Nordic has expanded
its operations rapidly over the last year launching its
first entertainment channel in Norway, Fox Crime, and
consolidating the Nordic distribution of its factual
channels: National Geographic Channel, National Geographic
Channel HD, Nat Geo Wild and Nat Geo Wild HD.
This investment in Finnish broadcast, and FIC's continued expansion throught Europe further establishes FIC as a leading player in the Nordic media entertainment market.
FIC's 18 entertainment and factual channels, anchored by the Fox and National Geographic brands, are worldwide leaders in their segments and FIC will bring this expertise as a leading TV content provider and producer to Suomi TV.

Initially, Suomi TV will offer both fiction and factual entertainment including marquee series from National Geographic, such as "Mega Factories", which goes inside the world's most iconic European brands; "Shark Men", following a group of experts unlocking the secrets of Great White sharks; "Inside", featuring incredible access to some of the world's most provocative stories; "Banged Up Abroad", first-hand accounts of a successful NG production about the problems of citizens condemned in foreign countries, and "Jurassic CSI", a series of amazing Paleontology investigations featuring location shooting and cutting-edge CGI.
These series will complement the existing Suomi TV content, and additional new programming will be introduced in the months ahead, gradually expanding the number of daily broadcast hours.

Suomi TV
Launched in Finland in December 2009, the Finnish
free-to-air network Suomi TV can be received through
terrestrial or cable network and it has a must-carry status
and a penetration of 99,9 % among the Finnish population.
Programming includes a variety of contents such as
entertainment, talk shows, series, documentaries, factual,
daily news and horse race. Suomi TV inaugurates in January
2012 a new era under the management of Fox International
Channels (FIC), a Fox Entertainment Group company that also
manages 183 wholly- and majority-owned entertainment,
factual, sports and movie channels across Latin America,
Europe, Asia and Africa. Among them, the TV brands
distributed in the Nordic region and Baltics, such as
National Geographic Channel, National Geographic Channel
HD, Nat Geo Wild, Nat Geo Wild HD, the entertainment
channels Fox Crime and Fox Life and the channel for
children Baby TV.
