Ever since Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on the Moon in 1969, the next logical major step for NASA has been sending astronauts to Mars. However, almost 50 years later, that next giant leap has not been taken yet. So when will humanity succeed in landing the first astronauts on Mars? According to Mars One's mission design and current roadmap, 2032 is a feasible goal. NASA also aims for the 2030's, SpaceX believes the technology to safely bring humans to Mars should be ready in the 2020's, and more organizations and companies have Mars in their sights. And when do you think the first humans land on Mars?

We asked this question to people on the streets of Amsterdam. Take a look at some of the answers:

In 50 years - Jan (Germany)

In 100 years - Daichi (Japan)

In 15 years - Argenis (Venezuela)

In 40-50 years - Karthick (India)

In 2035 - Thiyagarajan (India)

In 25 years - Megan and Sarah (Ireland)

In 10-20 years - Harvey and Isabelle (England)

In 30 years - Nikki (Netherlands)

In 10 years - Milinda (Netherlands)
