The shutdown of Coalfield Resources plc's Huntington Lane mine in Shropshire, U.K., could be completed by the end of 2013, months ahead of the planned closure date of June 2014. The open-cast mine was the center of controversy because it is near the Wrekin, a scenic nature area. The company said it hopes to start restoring the site by the end of 2013.
